The Château de Colombières is proud to bear witness to the crucial events of the last millennium. In the 21st century, the “Watchtower of the Marshes” offers peace, beauty, authenticity and magical charm within a perfectly preserved natural setting.

A guided tour of this exceptional monument, owned by the Maupeou d’Ableiges family, will give you an insight into a fascinating period of history from William the Conqueror to the Allied Forces Landing on June 6, 1944.

You will be shown around the moat, the courtyard and the castle’s main rooms. Children will be provided with a “Discovery Tour” leaflet.

EDUCATIONAL TOUR : THE “DISCOVERY TOUR”

The château de Colombières offers a special tour for school children aged 8 to 12.

A “Discovery Tour” has been organized by the owners to encourage children’s respect for our common heritage, as well as their passion for history. Visiting the castle is an ideal day-out for schools and (day) holiday centres because its educational approach combines imagination and reality. The children will learn about French history and medieval architecture.
The “Discovery Tour” is designed to meet the children’s curiosity by stimulating their observation skills and their sense of wonder. Further information is available on request.
